Capital Gains Update - 2011

Summary of taxable distributions

  • The payout dates represent capital gains distributions for tax year 2011.
  • Shareholders will receive year-end tax information from the funds in early 2012 that will reflect all distributions paid in 2011.

Here’s what you can do

  • The funds will indicate the percentage of their capital gains distribution that qualifies for the long-term rate and the applicable ordinary income tax rate for short-term gains. The information will be reported along with 2011 Form 1099-DIV. Please keep in mind that if an investor’s taxable distribution from a fund is less than $10 in 2011, it will not be reported on their Form 1099-DIV. However, shareholders are responsible for including the sum in their tax calculations.
  • Remember to work with a qualified tax advisor.
